I nominate Goudy.

Just read The Moorchild by Eloise McGraw. Great book. Wonderful font.

I like Goudy because it's neat, but it also has this charming, unfinished feel to it. If you look closely, it's almost as if someone printed each letter with a fine brush-- thick, friendly curves, narrowing in places. Friendly and personal without resorting to script.

I wonder if there's a test for: Which font are you? Lemme check.
