The Tea of Piglet
Dinner at Gloria Maris with the family. Auntie Conchita and Uncle William are telling my Dad about their trip to China…
Auntie Conchita: Frances, I was just telling your Papa that we went to this province that makes tea. When a family has a baby girl, they buy a pie made of tea* and they keep it until it's time for her to get married. And that's her dowry. Imagine tea that might be 20 years old….
Uncle William: It gets better as it grows older.
Ako naman, feeling mahirit….
Frances: Oooh…well what about 32-year old tea???

Papa: Hehehe…that's expired.
*She probably meant a wheel of tea but I like the idea of a pie made of tea…

hi fran,
very funny story. don't worry, i know how that feels!! although my conversation with my dad went along the lines of a "chicken" - not really tea. he would tell me "you ain't no spring chicken!". and i was exactly around your age!!!! (maybe even older). yours will be very gourmet tea!!! very precious indeed.
