Mico & Friends

…the truth is a little bit sad a little bit funny and a little bit strange.
If you really want to know, I'll tell you.

story by Luis Katigbak

Mico & Friends is the kind of story that gets better each time you read it.
And Luis Katigbak is the kind of writer you'd like to bind exclusively for all eternity. *cue demonic laughter*

Palanca stories for children have to highlight a Filipino value or virtue. A rule like this can really dampen a children's story but Luis manages to twist this and come up with a highly original story that is loads of fun and never preachy. Brilliant bastard. We loves him.

(All the stories in this anthology are wonderful but Mico & Friends is the one story that Reni (our editor-in-chief) hardly touched. Having worked with her for two years, that's a big deal.)

And, ehem, Marcus Nada's spunky-punky illustration fits the story to a tee.
I love how our anthology showcases such a wide variety of styles.

THE NIGHT MONKEYS: showing children different ways of 'awesome' one story at a time… ;)
